Rate Enhancement Programs can help with
typing
speed, spelling and productivity!
Many programs are available to
help you become a better typist, or to speed up your overall
computer use. Text input doesn't always mean using the
keyboard. There are a variety of add on programs, built in
program features, applications and utilities all designed
to help YOU!
Sounds simple, but in fact, there
are hundreds of programs out there, with more being developed
every month! Finding the right application, and one that
really works for you can be difficult. People who
type for a living, medical transcriptionists, secretaries,
programmers and others often use add on utilities or programs to
automate certain tasks and for rapid text entry.

Abbreviation Expansion
We have all used abbreviations in
our writing. Now, computer programs allow you to use built
in abbreviations or to create your own. You can type in just
a few letters and have a whole phrase pop up. For frequently
used information, ab-ex programs can speed you up significantly!

Word prediction
Computers - reading your
mind? :-)
Not really, but some useful
programs will help you with the words you want to type. Word
prediction programs will provide lists of words from which you can
choose. This can be extremely useful for the slow typist as
well as those with poor spelling.

Macros
A Macro is a 'recording'
of sequences, functions or commands. Sounds complex, but a
macro can be very simple and extremely useful. If you
frequently type business letters, you can assign a macro to open a
new document and enter your frequently entered information that
you always include in your letters "with a click of a
button on the screen or a combination key press!".
